Cub Scout Pack 334

Pack 334 was founded in Roxborough in 1993.

Keeping the spirit of the original and treasured Scout program, but ready to meet modern challenges, Boy Scouts of America is now known as Scouting America, while the Cub Scout program will continue to be known as Cub Scouts. Now all eligible youth in grades K to 5, both girls and boys, can join Cub Scouts and earn the Arrow of Light rank.

Not all heroes wear capes Some wear neckerchiefs

Cub Scouting with Pack 334 is for girls and boys in kindergarten through fifth grade. Young people who have completed the fifth grade may be eligible to join a Scouts BSA program.

Since its beginning, the Cub Scout program has been a fun and educational experience concerned with values. Besides providing a positive place where young people can enjoy safe, wholesome activities, Cub Scouting focuses on building character, improving physical fitness, teaching practical skills, and developing a spirit of community service.

We follow the traditional Advancement Trail for our Cub Scouts in Pack 334. Each of our young Scouts progresses from rank to rank, learning new skills as they go. Each of the ranks and awards in Cub Scouting has its own requirements. As they advance through the ranks, the requirements get more challenging, to match the new skills and abilities they learn as they get older. You can learn more about the Cub Scout Advancement Trail here.

We camp up to four times a year. Sometimes right in Gorgas Park.

What is the difference between Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA?
Cub Scouting is a program of Scouts BSA — so in that sense, Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA are both members of the same organization. However, they are entirely different programs: Cub Scouting is a family-oriented program designed specifically to address the needs of younger people in kindergarten through 5th grade.

Is Pack 334 the same as Troop 334?
Our Cub Scout Pack 334 shares the same unit number as Scouts BSA Troop 334, and we also share the same chartering organization, Leverington Presbyterian Church. Many of our adult leaders and volunteers overlap and serve both units. Most of our Cub Scouts move up and become Scouts with Troop 334. We strive to maintain a very cohesive and stable organization that is consistently dedicated to the same scouting principles from a Tiger Cub in the first grade all the way through to an Eagle Scout getting ready for college or career.

When do you meet?
Our Cub Scouts meet each Friday night in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. We may also have a special activity, such as a service project or a weekend camping trip or visit to a local museum in addition to, or in place of, our weekly meeting.

Are parents allowed to stay?
Cub Scouting is open to parents at all times, and parents are welcome (and encouraged!) to stay for all activities.

Parents face a lot of choices in extracurricular activities. Kids want to have fun, while parents want them to learn positive values and skills that will last a lifetime.

Cub Scouting may be exactly what you are both looking for.

Pack Leadership

Pack 334 is led by a stable, diverse, and dedicated group of experienced parents, educators, and lifelong Scouts. Some of our leaders have been working with 334 for decades! All volunteer their time, energy, and expertise to make Pack 334 happen.

These are the people you’ll see each Friday night, running the meetings and leading the Cub Scouts through their Adventures. You might also find them spending countless hours over the summers, and in between activities, making sure that all the details are squared away.

We Always Need More Help

Our Pack should have a Den Leader and two Assistant Den Leaders for every Den. We should have a Committee of around ten people, each with a specific focus. We do not have that kind of support. Yet. Help make a difference. The Pack will pay your registration fees; we just need you to answer the call.
